China’s geopolitical rise has coincided with a world increasingly divided by great-power rivalry, the breakdown of international law, economic fragmentation, and eroded trust in multilateral institutions. Can China’s balancing acts—through neutral mediation, development-focused partnerships, and tech diplomacy—offer stability where Western approaches have struggled?

 

These are the very questions that will be explored in Panel 2 of GIFT’s Geopolitics & Conflicts: Is China’s Balancing Act a Global Good? conference. The panel will assess whether China’s pragmatic approach to global affairs can help stabilise a fractured world.
